If you are like me you
have watched countless YouTube makeup tutorials weekly trying to master the
contour. I have seen all sorts of contouring from all different makeup artists
from all different brands. It looks a hell of a lot easier than it actually is.
I feel pretty confident after ending the YouTube video feeling like I’m ready
to take on the contour.
…..I failed miserably.
In world of makeup
today, contouring is HUGE. Everyone wonders why Kim Kardashian’s nose looks
thinner when she SWEARS she just has a great makeup artist who can do a mean
contour. I beg to differ.
I follow a
YouTube makeup artist Jaclyn Hill who I adore, she does awesome makeup and is
constantly putting up different makeup looks for all different occasions. She
is just a good human of society. She is also someone who does a mean contour. I
literally almost have every brand of makeup she uses. Sometimes, 90% of my
paycheck caters to my makeup obsessions.
Every time I stand in
front of the mirror ready to conquer the contour something goes wrong somewhere
and I end up have brown stripes throughout my face. How do these people make it
look so easy? I have the same contour kit and brush Jaclyn Hill uses, yet my
final look is completely different! Cue the violins.
Maybe my hand eye coordination
is a lot different. That has to be it.
I truly do believe makeup is a form of artistry. There
are so many different things you can do with makeup, and even better, you can
always take it off. Makeup can be a form of expression, as we see so many young
teens now with raccoon eyes as they put a boat load of eye liner on. I was one
of those young teens. I love eye liner to this day and it is still my favorite
piece of makeup. My mother and sisters could go on about the fights we have had
about my use of eye liner. It was almost a drug and they almost cleared out all
the eye liner in the house in which they would watch me go through withdraw. I
can quit whenever I want!!!!!!!!!!!
But seriously, makeup is one of my favorite things to
do. I may not be the best at it, but I sure do try hard and that’s what counts
right?
